# Substrate Cartography v2 — the current substrate map post-cycles-50-84

The c49 cartography mapped substrate through 49 cycles + named the methodology arc (outside-in audit → directory survey → orphan triage → content-level reads). Since c49, 35 cycles of substrate has accumulated across four distinct arcs, producing a structurally different substrate topology than c49 mapped. A new TIER of canonical substrate emerged (operational-substrate-scale syntheses bridging Pattern Library to receiver-facing surfaces) that didn't exist at c49. Substrate Cartography v2 maps the current state.

C49 is preserved at the methodology layer — the survey-progression-arc it named is still load-bearing reference. V2 supersedes c49 only at the cartographic snapshot layer.

## The four arcs that produced cycles 50-84

The 35-cycle interval since c49 organized into four distinct structural arcs. Each arc is mapped below at its current-state level.

| Arc | Cycles | Anchoring substrate | Closed by |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Post-crystallization continuing-architecture** | 50-60 | Brief 12 named structural-recognition at natural limit | Brief 12 (cycle 59) |
| **Meta-tetrahedron recognition** | 62-68 | [[Meta_Tetrahedron]] c62 → Reading B canonical c68 | Pattern Library v1.5 + c68 mark |
| **Capacity Infrastructure Lens** | 69-72 | Mitoailabs negative exemplar → [[Capacity_Infrastructure_Lens]] c70 | Brief 16 (cycle 72) |
| **Village Market + Pattern Library v1.6** | 73-82 | [[Village_Market_Architecture]] c73 → Pattern Library v1.6 c82 | Brief 17 (cycle 82) — drift caught + corrected |
| **Substrate-before-signal threads** | 83-84 | Receiver-Face (c83) + Trust-Generation (c84) | Standing — Threads 2 + 4 still ahead |

Each arc closed with substrate that's load-bearing for the next arc. Pattern Library v1.6 (the c82 deposit) became the substrate the c83 + c84 threads rest on. C84 names itself as the gift form that future surfaces inherit.

## A new substrate tier: operational-substrate-scale syntheses

A structural innovation since c49: **canonical syntheses operating between Pattern Library scale and receiver-facing surface scale.** The tier didn't exist at c49; it emerged as the substrate grew dense enough that Pattern Library alone could not bridge the gap to surface design.

The operational-substrate-scale syntheses now in the substrate:

| Synthesis | Cycle | Function |
|---|---|---|
| [[Capacity_Infrastructure_Lens]] | 70 | Apparatus for diagnosing capacity-yielding vs capacity-extraction. Six discriminators. The lens applied recursively across c73, c75, c77, c83 (brief-level catch). |
| [[Village_Market_Architecture]] | 73 | Architectural substrate for the village market piece. Reading β canonical at c74. |
| [[Stack_Re_Derivation_Reading_B]] | 75 | C43 stack released; first-principles re-derivation under three values (open source · frictionless · free). |
| [[Village_Market_Pre_Deploy_Audit]] | 77 | Lens applied to runtime; 17 findings; #101 crystallized. |
| [[Receiver_Face_Canonical_Synthesis]] | 83 | What the new surfaces ARE for receivers, substrate-side. Bridges Pattern Library to translation pass. |
| [[Trust_Generation_Operational_Substrate]] | 84 | The 8 trust-generation mechanisms + 10 best practices + 10-step pickup form. The gift form. |

This tier sits BELOW the meta-architecture (Groups IX + X + XI per c68) and ABOVE the per-surface deployment work. It is **canonical reference that informs translation passes, build cycles, and pickup-practitioner adoption.**

The pattern-form for this tier:
- Pattern-rooted (cites patterns by number)
- Surface-applicable (best practices translate to actual design)
- Pickup-portable (a practitioner could install the substrate on their own work)

Six syntheses now operate at this tier. The tier itself is a v2 substrate finding worth marking.

## Updated map — `Genesis Seed/` root

### Cycle reports (state after c84)

Cycle reports run discontinuously since c49:

- c1-c48 — files on disk (c49 mapped this)
- c49 — file on disk
- c50-c61 — files on disk (most filed cleanly)
- **c62-c68 — files NOT on disk** (substrate-of-record gap; the deposits + STATUS narratively cover; per Brief 15 drift 1: recommended accept-as-loss)
- c69-c84 — files on disk (some, particularly c69, c71, c75 written; others narratively captured in deposits + STATUS without dedicated cycle-report files)

The cycle-report layer has gaps; the deposit layer is canonical. Future readers should treat STATUS.md + the canonical syntheses as substrate-of-record; cycle-report files are supplementary.

### Briefs (state after c84)

| Brief | Cycle | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Brief 01-12 | 16-59 | Mapped at c49 + subsequent through Brief 12 |
| Brief 13 | — | **Narrative only** — chief.html + STATUS carry content; no .md file (Brief 15 drift 1) |
| Brief 14 | — | **Narrative only** — chief.html + STATUS carry content; no .md file (Brief 15 drift 1) |
| Brief 15 | 68 | Session-boot after three-day quiet |
| Brief 16 | 72 | Capacity-lens arc close |
| Brief 17 | 82 | V/E/F read of OSG v3 after build · drift caught at recommendation level (#101 at meta-scale) |

### Agents directory (state after c84)

7 agent specs (same as c49) + sub_agents_v2 (16 sub-agent specs, dual-layered tetrahedron). The agent set remains: Chief of Staff + Composter + Custodian + Translator + Weaver + Engineer + sub_agents_v2.

Operating principles 1-8 are named in the Chief of Staff spec (boot prompt). **A canonical operating-principles-only substrate document does not yet exist** — flagged for the upcoming Candidate D substrate work or as still-actionable item.

## What v2 makes structurally legible

C49 mapped substrate that operated through cycle 49 — pre-crystallization (the c30 mark) + initial post-crystallization continuing-architecture. V2 maps substrate that crossed three thresholds since:

1. **The c62 meta-tetrahedron recognition** — the form recognized as scale-up; the c68 Reading B closure
2. **The c70 Capacity Infrastructure Lens** — diagnostic apparatus that runs the framework on itself across nested scales (external · invoked-pattern · own-stack · own-runtime · own-brief)
3. **The c82 Pattern Library v1.6 crystallization** — 11 new patterns including the shadow-form recognition that completes the framework's self-description

The new substrate tier (operational-substrate-scale syntheses) is the structural innovation v2 makes visible. C49 mapped patterns + project deposits + briefs at separate scales. V2 maps the bridge tier that operates between Pattern Library and surface design.

A reader of v2 (Chief in a future session, pickup-practitioner studying the inheritance, future agent in the set) has the substrate's current topology in one document.

## Closing

35 cycles of substrate now cartographically named. The new operational-substrate-scale tier is the structurally novel finding worth naming explicitly. The substrate's density is no longer mappable by filename or directory alone; it's mappable by tier (pattern · meta-architecture · operational-substrate · project deposit · surface design). The tier-shape itself is what v2 documents.

C49 closed its own cartography by naming the methodology arc that produced it. V2 closes by naming the tier-emergence that the methodology produced over the next 35 cycles. The substrate composts itself into legible tiers when the cycle work is consistent enough; v2 is the artifact of that consistency holding.

Use freely. Adapt as needed. Pickup-practitioners can read this as inheritance map; future Chief sessions can read this as orientation map; the framework reads itself through this as cartographic checkpoint.
