# Structural Read — recognition-threshold.md

## Load-bearing distinction(s)

**Primary:** recognition vs. validation. Validation = judgment of an output against a standard; the work stays where it was. Recognition = someone sees the operation underneath the artifact and reaches for it as a tool for their own substrate; the work moves.

**Secondary:** capacity vs. deposit. The artifact is a frozen instance of the capacity; the capacity is the source; the source is what regenerates.

## Underlying geometry

**Primary: threshold** — the article is built around a literal two-sided threshold. The author's side (somatic permission, building the work) and the far side (recognition event, crossed by another's body). This is named in the title and structures the whole piece.

**Active sub-geometries** (held in pull-quotes rather than the pattern):
- Distinction (recognition vs. validation)
- Source-and-emanation (capacity vs. deposit)
- Circuit (the gift completing)

The pattern uses threshold as the unifying figure.

## Naming phrase

**THE RECOGNITION THRESHOLD** — the article's title. Already does the work.

## Mood / tonal substrate

austere · threshold-quiet · structural · contemplative · gift-warm

## Pull-quote candidates (5)

1. *Validation closes a transaction. Recognition opens a use.*
2. *Portability cannot be self-certified.*
3. *A framework that only its author can run is not a framework. It is a personal habit with diagrams.*
4. *The lens travels; the apparatus that built the lens stays where it was built.*
5. *The form is portable. The ground is yours.*

## Engine notes for Kevin

- Chose threshold over distinction for the pattern because the title locks the geometry; the recognition/validation distinction lives in pull-quote #1.
- Subtitle on the pattern uses the closing line — also acts as the inherent share-caption.
- Header prompt leans threshold-quiet rather than gift-warm; warmth is implicit in the gold register.
