Dance

I would equate spirituality to presence, and nothing brings me more present than dance — nothing opens my heart more than dance.

Twenty years holding dance floors wasn't separate from the work. It was somatic training. I learned to read group nervous-system states — what it feels like when coordination is coherent versus when it's performing coherence. I learned the embodied signature of a pattern before I had language for it.

Years of organizing and hosting these spaces meant absorbing a lot of the structural strain that comes with them — making people who felt unsafe feel heard, holding what breaks down between people who share a small community. That work is part of what dance actually is, underneath the music.

Partnered dance is one of the few things that has never been fully commodified. It's a gift. It exists whether capitalism does or not.

Dance is the moving half of what Somatic Witnessing is the still half of — both are training in reading what's actually happening in a body, a room, a moment, instead of what you expect to find there.
