Donate

If the substrate is useful to you and you want to support its continuation.

Donations sustain the practice. The practice flows back to the commons. The rail is shaped so the gift doesn't convert to ledger.

Kevin works for the commons. The substrate on this site — the manuscript, the kit, the transmissions, the tools — is self-licensed and free to use. Donations are how the practice that produces this substrate keeps going. They are not the entry fee. They do not unlock anything that isn't already public.

If you weren't sure whether to give, the answer is probably no for now. The substrate is gift either way.

The rail

Venmo

@Kevin-Mears-11

Sliding scale — any amount, any cadence, no minimum, no maximum. One-time only; no subscriptions on this rail. No tax receipt; this is not a 501(c)(3).

The discipline

Venmo means Kevin sees your donation with your name. The structural asymmetry that a fiscal-sponsor rail would enforce — aggregate-only visibility, no per-donor identification — is not enforced by this rail. The discipline replaces the structure.

Kevin commits to not letting donor identity shape how he engages with you or anyone else. He does not maintain donor lists. He does not favor donors. He does not let the names color the work.

If he can't hold that, the rail gets restructured — either by moving to a sponsor rail or by closing the donation surface entirely. The discipline is the rail until structure replaces it.

What this rail is not

No donor list
The page does not name who gave. The substrate does not aggregate. There is no "thank our supporters" page anywhere on this site.
No leaderboards or tiers
No bronze / silver / gold. No naming a donation level. No badges. The donation amount is your private decision; it does not produce status.
No acknowledgment ledger
No thank-you emails on a schedule. No annual report. Receiving the donation is not converted into a recognition transaction.
No tying to specific services
The gift menu stays separate from this rail. A donation does not buy a gift offering. A gift offering does not require a donation.
No follow-up sequence
The exchange ends where it ends. No "consider increasing your monthly amount." No "you might also be interested in." A donation is one move; the response is silence by design.

Other ways to give that aren't money

The frame is gift. Money is one form. Several others carry the same structural weight.
