This is the one page that goes stale. The rest of the site is true no matter what week it is. This one tells you where the bus is parked, what's running, and what's open right now. If the date above is more than a month old, that means nothing has moved and nothing has shipped — which is also worth knowing.
It updates when something changes, not on a schedule. The body sets the pace, and the page follows it.
Where I am
- The bus
- In the Grass Valley area now, moving every couple of weeks. Wherever it lands, local work and the Gift Circle radius move with it. If you've got a spot it could park, see Host the Bus.
- How far I'll travel
- About 45 miles from wherever the bus is parked, for hands-on local work. Thinking-partner work I can do from anywhere.
- Power
- Energy independent The bus is the house and the generator both. 15 kWh of battery, a 10 kW inverter already live, and a 2.6 kW solar array wired up and running — enough to run the bus and charge the motorcycle right off it, free from here on. The power it makes is shared with wherever I'm parked. A 12V pump and a tank I built give the place running water on demand. Most of it came from gifts and salvage: paid once, runs free after.
What's open
- Sitting down to talk
- Open Wednesdays and Thursdays, most weeks. A first call or a longer follow-up, with room to breathe between them. Reach me through Ask.
- Building and fixing
- Ask and I'll tell you straight Building, repairs, welding, off-grid systems. No slot counter. Ask through Request and I'll say yes when I can and no clean when I can't.
- Donations
- Open If you want to put something in: Venmo @Kevin-Mears-11. You pick the number. Welcome, never required — it doesn't buy the work, and you don't owe it.

Not a plan, not a promise. Just what's on the bench this cycle.
How I keep this page
No names. You can see what's open and what's running, but not who asked, who gave, or who I'm working with. Nothing here turns into a list of who owes who — there's nothing to owe. That's on purpose; it's what keeps the giving clean.
If you sent a request and this page says I'm full, your ask is held, not dropped. And if you're waiting and nothing here has changed in a while — that's the body setting the calendar, not me forgetting you.
