Ask

An ask, not a booking.

A hand writing a short note at a sunlit workbench, an enamel mug nearby
No form. No calendar. Just a few lines to a person.

This isn't a calendar. There's no Book Now, no required fields, no funnel. Use the form at the bottom — or read through the three paths below and it'll tell you what to put in it.

You arrived asking about

If it feels rehearsed when you write it, scrap that and say it plain. I'm reading for what you actually need, not for how it's worded.

Three ways in

You need something built or fixed

A repair, some welding, a build, a hand with a project — use the form below and say what it is. If you saw something on the Offerings page, name it. If it's not on there, just describe it. There's a short list further down of what's useful to include — not rules, just the stuff that helps me give you a straight answer fast.

You want to talk through how I work

If you're thinking about living this way — owning your setup, keeping your burn low, building things once that keep paying — use the form below and tell me where you're at. Some of it's already written down free in The Model; read that first and you may not even need me.

Anything else

A question, a note, you're a neighbor near Grass Valley and you're not sure what you need yet. Use the form — no categories required.

Some asks aren't really for me — they're for the people around here. If a neighbor is better placed to meet it, the Gift Circle pairs asks with offers close by.

What's useful to put in the email

What makes an ask harder to answer

What happens after you send

I read the email. If I can help, you'll hear back with the next step — a time to talk, a yes or no, or a pointer to someone better placed than me. If I can't, you'll get a straight no that tells you why, usually with somewhere else to try. No sales sequence. No you might also like. When it's done, it's done.

I can only carry so much at once. The Current page says what's open right now. If I'm full when you write, I hold the ask until there's room, and that page updates when there is.

Send the ask

Goes straight to me. I read in batches — a few days, not a few minutes.

Sent. I'll read it when I surface — usually a few days. If it's a fit, you'll get a clear next step. If not, a straight no that tells you where to go instead.

No obligation either way. Take what's useful, leave the rest.
